⇢ When someone advising me about something in absolute terms.
⇢ When there are no shades of grey.
⇢ I start questioning their wisdom.
Often there is (not surprisingly) an agenda to position what they're selling.
⇢ Their offer is blue.
⇢ The solution is therefore blue.
⇢ Red is an inferior choice.
Trouble is there is no objective evidence. It's forceful opinion, not fact.
⇢ They'll put forward a compelling argument.
⇢ They'll use authority to support that.
⇢ They'll posture if challenged.
It's manipulation, not influence.
I much prefer advisors who aren't so dictatorial.
⇢ They are capable of "and ... both" thinking.
⇢ They uncover different options.
⇢ They test and adapt ideas.
Authority doesn't have to be authoritarian.
Or maybe it does, what's your opinion?
