How to create extraordinary experiences that differentiate
This is how to create extraordinary experiences.
The type of experiences that attract the best team members and clients. Ones that make your consultancy stand out.
Unfortunately most consultancy owners don’t take time to do this.
That’s because they’re often stuck in a busy state of mind and they …
Don’t get pushed to get outside their comfort zone.
Aren’t sure what extraordinary consulting feels like.
Haven’t done this type of developmental thinking before.
Don’t have a framework to guide them through the process.
But I’ve seen smart people get over those barriers. Here’s how, step by step:
Step 1: Create a time and space to think.
Move your mind and body into a different place. Try a canal boat, a city park, or a retreat hotel.
Where would work for you?
Step 2: Think about an exceptional service you’ve had.
But don’t make the mistake of picking something like the Apple Store. That’s a high design, high budget experience.
Instead pick everyday examples you can model: The coffee place where they remember your order; An insurance call centre that felt human; A colleagues thank you note.
What made the experience you choose extraordinary for you?
Step 3: Ask yourself two questions.
Now you’re in the right frame of mind to do the work.
First choose an experience you want to make extraordinary. Then ask these yourself two questions:
What’s predictable about this experience?
What’s possible that would make this experience a WOW?
Now take the predictable and do whatever it takes to move to the possible.
To recap.
Find time and space. Examine everyday experiences that have been extraordinary for you. Then ask what’s possible? And, what’s predictable?
Do this and you’ll get some great ideas to put in place and differentiate your firm.
