Maximise Your Performance: This Week's Top Insights
Hi, it’s Clive. This briefing is for expert practitioners who are committed to exceptional performance. Exchange what's predictable for what's possible.
Before we start. It’s Sunday. Did you have an amazing week last week?
❎ No - sorry, what stopped it being exceptional for you?
✅ Yes - great, how do you replicate the same experience this coming week too?
There aren’t the kind of questions you might normally stop and ask. Yet many high achievers I know do a weekly preview that sets them up for reflection and success.
I find it’s cathartic journal my answers to a few questions like these. You might too.
An interesting one to ask and answer is “what do I want today?”
The last couple of weeks I’ve been in a group writing cohort. Suffice it to say I’m hitting my daily shipping target. And this week’s briefing curates a few of those which might be useful.
Here goes:
I had an internet issue that made me think about how sometimes the actions we take to fix problems are a futile distraction: From Starlink to Traffic Jams: A Lesson for Maintaining Higher Performance.
Sales trainers will teach you "agree and outweigh" techniques to handle customer concerns. This might work well for the characters in episodes of the 1950s based Mad Men: Stop “Handling Objections” and Start Exploring Concerns.
Ray Dalio, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffett swear by ‘invisible frameworks.’ What are they, and how do they give such a powerful edge?: The Secret Weapon Top Performers Use That You Can't See.
Clients come to you with an issue and it's tempting to jump right to a solution. The danger of consultants jumping into solution mode early: How to turn smaller projects into bigger, more valuable opportunities.
When you’re someone who’s used to getting things done, it can feel like control is the only way forward: High Achievers: A Meditation for Letting Go of Control
Feeling stuck because your network isn’t full of the ideal clients you want to work with? Don’t worry—it’s fixable. What to Do When Your Network Doesn’t Include Ideal Clients.
There's plenty of insights and tips here. Please let me know which you chose to read. What did you learn that was useful?
Until next week.
Clive
